Automatic LED Visual Inspection |
By adding a camera to your computer you can have the Mistral check the LEDs on your keypad to see if they are working properly. The Mistral can use the camera to check color and intensity as well as verify quantity and position of each LED. This is particularly useful when an LED Item represents multiple LEDs in parallel.
This is an experimental feature. It is difficult to tell how it will work with different cameras and lighting. To minimize nuisance failures the current settings will only detect large differences in color and intensity. In other words while it will detect if there is a green LED where there should be a red one, it may not detect if an LED is a little dimmer or if the color is slightly different.
The Mistral should be able to use any camera that is accessible by Windows software for streaming video, such as a webcam. You will need to mount the camera so that it can "see" all the LEDs when the keypad is placed on the work surface. The keypad should fill the image from the camera. For best results the lighting should be uniform without any reflections from the keypad.
When you start a new job, select "Do Automatic LED Visual Inspection" in the Job Info window. After you click "OK" the Camera Setup window will open. Connect a known good keypad to the Mistral and follow the steps to learn the color and location of the LEDs on the keypad.
You will need to make sure that when testing a keypad all the LEDs are within the camera's view. You do not need to place the keypad in exactly the same place each time but you might want to mark the area to place it on your work surface.
When automatic LED visual inspection is enabled, the Mistral cycles through the LEDs after they have been electrically tested to see if they "look" okay. Don't move the keypad while this is being done. You will be notified if there is a problem. Because this is an experimental feature you will be given the option to ignore any errors detected.
